Patrick King, Pender's Director of Music Ministries, Shared a Reflection on The Odyssey

Worship at Pender United Methodist Church on Sunday, July 19, 2026, the Eighth Sunday after Pentecost, as we celebrated through music, Scripture, and worship.  During this service, Director of Music Ministries Patrick King and the Praise Band presented "Cry of My Heart" (#2165 from The Faith We Sing).   

Before the anthem, Patrick shared a thoughtful reflection about recently seeing the new film The Odyssey with his wife and how its themes of longing, perseverance, and the search for home echo the deeper spiritual journey found throughout the Bible.  "Cry of My Heart" is a heartfelt prayer of devotion, expressing our desire to seek God, follow Christ, and live faithfully each day. 

Patrick's introduction offered a meaningful perspective on how timeless stories can point us toward the eternal truths found in Scripture.
