United Methodist Women (UMW) of Pender
The United Methodist Women of Pender are part of the Arlington District of the
Virginia Conference. We are a community whose purpose is to know God and serve
Him through mission and service to all persons in the global ministry of the
church.
Every woman at Pender is invited to be a part of this community. There are
multiple circle meetings and a general meeting conducted on a monthly basis.
While circles may meet in the church or in a member's home, general meetings are
usually held at the church.
Programs are planned to meet the spiritual and social needs of the woman. They
give her challenges to serve and participate in the church and community
activities. Our mission of involvement is local and international. |

Our financial support is derived from our pledge service. The annual bazaar,
baked goods and cookie sales, weddings, anniversary and birthday receptions
provide additional funding.
District Leadership Training,
Spiritual Retreats, and Prayer Breakfasts get the Pender women
involved at all levels, as well as allow us to interact with women
from the other churches. Our women are also involved with District
Leadership Training, Spiritual Retreats, Prayer Breakfasts, Charter
for Racial Justice Committee, the Wesley Seminary Learning Resource
Center Task Force, and the Western Fairfax Christian Ministries.
Finally, each year we assist several Pender women and teens with
funding on short-term mission trips throughout the world.
We ask you to become a part of Pender UMW and give us your support.
The Church Bulletin and the Pender Post offer information regarding
our activities. Our Executive Board Meetings are opened to all women.
A directory is available which gives information regarding Pender UMW
and Arlington District officers and programs. |

The United
Methodist Men's Fellowship is the assembly of Pender men whose objectives are to
demonstrate God's love in all actions and to be "doers of the Word." Our actions
and activities reach out to the community in the form of projects and social
events to make disciples.
Major events include the spring and fall Outreach Center sales, annual
Sweetheart Banquet, Rebuilding Together, annual mulch sale, the annual Men's
Retreat and the ongoing support to youth and missions programs. We hold monthly
dinner meetings the fourth Wednesday of the month at 7:00pm and concluding at
9:00pm, except November and December (then the third Wednesday.)
The agenda includes devotions, dinner, business meeting, fellowship, and
guest speakers with concerns/issues for building His kingdom with the help of
Christian men. The UMM sponsor a men's Bible study each Saturday morning with
breakfast at 7:00am and study at 7:30am Our membership is approximately 50
members and growing, and your participation is encouraged. New male members and
their families of the Pender congregation will receive a warm Christian welcome
and may find a special niche for individual growth. |
