There are many ways to participate in this vital ministry and only a love for God's music is required! Our volunteers sing, ring handbells, play an instrument, direct children's choirs, coordinate special events, make phone calls, create bulletins and flyers, manage our music library, bake, design and make musical sets, choreograph dances for musicals. The list goes on!
Accompanists, guest conductors, and "second adult" support are welcome and are wonderful additions for our music program.
Accompanists: If you play piano, you can play for a children's or youth choir on a regular or substitute basis.
"Second Adult" Support: We seek adult volunteers to assist directors during rehearsals. Musical skills not required.
Administrative Support: Do you enjoy making spreadsheets and sending e-mails? Our administrative volunteers maintain the rosters of children's and youth music groups, and assist the directors with communications between the music ministry and the parents of our children and youth musicians.
Blended Praise Band: Do you play piano, guitar, bass guitar or percussion? Do you like to sing praise music? We would love to have new members of our praise band! We present two pieces of praise music at the 8:15 am and 11:00am blended services.
We commend, applaud, and magnify God in worship every Sunday by leading two praise songs in the traditional worship services. This small ensemble consists of rotating musicians. This acoustic blend engages singers with piano, guitar and acoustic styled instruments.
Vocal Choirs: Lift up your voices to the Lord! Love to sing? Join one of our choirs. We have choirs for all ages. In addition to singers, we can use accompanists, "second adults" and administrative support.
Wonderful people sing their hearts out to God on Sunday mornings. All ages are enthusiastically involved. Theresa Carpenter, our Choir Director, will be happy to show you around and find a place for every child, youth or adult to sing or play an instrument!
Handbell Choirs: Beautiful handbell music helps prepare our hearts for worship.
The adult handbell choirs cover all ages and experience levels. You do not need to know how to read music to begin ringing handbells.
Youth handbells for grades 7 through 12 meet on Sunday evenings to rehearse.
Children's handbells and handchimes for grades K through 6 meet on Thursday afternoons to rehearse.
We are gifted with many handbell choirs for just about all ages, Kindergarten and up. We'd love to have you join us. Talk to Theresa Carpenter soon!
Orchestra: The Pender Music Ministry likes to involve youth and adult instrumentalists in Sunday morning worship and special services throughout the year. We rehearse on Sunday afternoons.
Those interested in playing solos, participating in ensembles or playing with a vocal choir should contact Theresa at the church office for information about these performance opportunities.
Children's Music Camp: Sixty kids singing and playing music to the Lord is the ministry of Music Camp. Like Vacation Bible School, this venue encourages the participation of children in a week-long camp format.
Volunteers in this ministry plan, organize and orchestrate this annual summer music camp. Musical skills are not necessary to participate! Older youth are always welcome to help out as teaching assistants (TAs).
Rising second to rising sixth graders learn to play handbells, Orff instruments, sing, dance, have a daily craft and prepare a musical for the final day.
Music Lessons: Private music lessons are offered by several of our talented musicians for varying ages and groupings.
Common Ground Band: The band plays on Sunday mornings at 9:30 am for common ground. Interested in singing with or joining the band on your instrument occasionally? Auditions with Sean Niehoff are required.
