Have you ever had a really great friendship? We’re fortunate when we’ve been able to experience that breath of heaven here on earth.
My grandma was one of the best cooks who lived! I remember learning how to make a pie crust with her as a little child. She taught me the intricacies of getting the flour to accept and bind to both shortening and water, and how to coax it along so the crust would end up flaky.
Most of all I remember how she loved me and was willing to spend time with me. The little things she did with me, coming to my softball games and teaching me to cook, were her love-acts to me. She said with those acts, “I love you and love spending time with you.”
“I love you and would love to spend some time with you,” are Jesus’ words to us. Sometimes it’s a whisper just faintly heard. Sometimes a friend actually speaks those words to us, as a conduit for Jesus' voice. Other times it’s a dream we’ve had and we wonder if it could be true.
