WELCOME!
The United Methodist Women (UMW) is open to any woman who has a desire to belong and participate in the mission of the United Methodist Church. Our purpose is to know God and to experience freedom through Jesus Christ.

Our bible verse and theme for this year is Psalm 119:105: "Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path."

April 25 - Boutique Kick-off Luncheon (12:30 in the Cornerstone Room)
April 29 - May1 - Boutique and Bake Sale
May 15 - Women's Movie Night
July 16 - Vespers Service with United Methodist Men
September 26 - Boutique Kick-off Luncheon (12:30 in the Cornerstone Room)
September 30 - October 2 - Boutique and Bake Sale
October - UMW Retreat (date TBD)
December 12 - Christmas Brunch (12:30 in the Fellowship Hall)

ABOUT US:
Our Vision Statement: The United Methodist Women of Pender seek to connect all of Pender’s women to one another in an open, supportive network of Circles, ministries and activities. We facilitate opportunities for friendships to grow and spiritual faiths to deepen. We strive to practice utmost hospitality in our meetings, our church and our community. We support a variety of missions in our local community and beyond to spread the joy and good news of Jesus Christ.
Each year we host a variety of events to support our mission and our theme:
- Prayer breakfasts with guest speakers,
- Luncheons to celebrate our Woman of the Year and to share fellowship,
- Coffee and Conversation nights at local coffee houses,
- A September welcome membership tea,
- An on-site retreat in October to focus our spiritual growth,
- Seasonal events such as the Mother’s Day Dinner and Christmas Brunch,
- And two or three events to raise funds that support missions efforts locally and worldwide.
Our events, meeting dates, and times are published in our Pender United Methodist Women’s Directory which is available in the church office. We also place announcements in the Sunday bulletins, in the Pender Post, on the church website, and through e-mail notifications.
There are four Circles that consist of small groups of women who meet monthly in fellowship and service to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The Bessie Gooding, Mary Martha, Ruth, and Susanna Circles meet at the church or occasionally at a member’s home. Women who are unable to participate in Circles are welcome as constituents at all UMW events, and new members are always welcome!
