The Pender United Methodist Men (PUMM) is only as strong as the Men who lead.

Please prayerfully consider leading the PUMM in a capacity that plays to your strengths.  Please do not hesitate to contact any of the current or past PUMM leaders to answer your questions.

Send a note here for information or to volunteer.

President:
  (Currently filled)
Overall coordination and direction of all activities of the UMM including running and coordination the monthly meetings.  Be the spokesperson for the UMM in the District and National UMM activities.  Be the chief contact with other Church committees on behalf of the UMM and represent UMM as a ex-officio member (or automatic member) of other committees.

First VP:   (A good man needed!)
Aid the President in all activities of the UMM and fill infor him when he is unavailable to run meetings or be present at important meetings due to emergency situations.  This person may ultimately be grooming towards being the future President if they choose to do so.  It is not automatic but is definitely a possible outcome from the experience he receives by working closely with the President.

VP Programs:  (A good man needed!)
Work with Servant Leadership Council (SLC) members'suggestions but are ultimately responsible for the speaker or program content of each meeting (be it ice-breakers or videos being shown, etc.) in advance of the month.  So planning for these activities in advance based on working around standard activities, such as Flea Markets, Mulch Sales, Christmas in April, etc., are his main responsibility.

Secretary:  (Currently filled)
He is mainly responsible for keeping minutes of the meeting and making sure they are in the President's hands before the Agenda for the monthly meetings are drawn up so that they can be inserted in the Agenda for ratification by the general body at the next meeting.  He is also technically the Historian or record keeper for all the meetings and should keep track along with the President to make sure that all historical records are kept for the use of future SLCs.  Therefore, it is the Secretary's responsibility (and not the VP Publicity to be the historian)

Treasurer:  (Currently filled)
Responsible for all financial transaction record keeping.  Has to keep all supporting evidence and documentation to prove all deposits and checks are adequately recorded to the satisfaction of the Church's audit committee or CPAs when asked to provide such records.  Has to ensure that President approves and initials all checks and payments that are not specifically approved by the Annual Budget of the UMM.  Even if approved, if the item is more expensive than budgeted, the President's written approval should be recorded.  He should also report on the monthly finances at the meetings.  He should ensure that all incoming cash receipts are countersigned when received by at least two officers of the SLC, which may or may not include himself.

Chaplain:   (Currently filled)
He is the spiritual leader of the UMM and presents devotions at the monthly meetings or other gatherings of the UMM.  He should work closely with the President to develop a spiritual growth of the UMM body at large and the SLC members during their planning and other meetings.  He should be a person who is spiritually uplifted and guided by the Holy Spirit to suggest improvements whenever needed in the spiritual aspects of the UMM.

VP Outreach:    (A good man needed!)
He is a man who is dedicated to lead the UMM's ministry through the activities of the Outreach Center including the collection and distribution of furniture, appliances and clothing to the needy, Flea Markets, Christmas in April,  and other physical outreach activity.  He should also be active in recruiting UMM to go on short term mission trips.

VP Music:    (A good man needed!)
He is in charge of the musical activities in monthly meetings, Vesper Services, Annual or semi-annual UMM Retreats and other places when the members of UMM are called upon to participate in lifting their voices as praise to God.   He should not hesitate to volunteer his services to bring the act of worship through music into as many gatherings or events as are appropriate.

VP Publicity:      (A good man needed!)
He is responsible to do (or to delegate to the VP at large) all the necessary things to publicize the events of the UMM. Examples are arranging for announcements at both Sunday services, making sure that the announcements for the meetings and activities are in the Church's weekly Bulletin by calling the Church's Secretary before the input deadline, ensuring that the Flea Markets are advertised way before time in the local newspapers, making sure that the Pender Post is used as a method of publicity for UMM events, and also meeting with people wherever and whenever possible to invite them to attend the monthly meetings and other social events of the UMM like the Sweetheart Banquet, Golf or Baseball outings, etc.  He should also assist the President in contacting potential attendees of the UMM meetings just before the actual meeting day itself as a reminder.

VP at large:   (A good man needed!)
He is responsible to fill in or aid in the duties of any of the other positions mentioned above, and should be available to be called upon to help out for any of the above positions for a temporary period or in case of emergency, with the guidance of the person who needs the help and with adequate notice.  He in effect is a sort of Jack of all trades, but should do so with a cheerful spirit and willing personality.  He should be flexible and open minded and be an up lifter of spirits, a "Barnabas" if you will,  who is an encourager, rah..rah..let's keep it going..chin up...kind of guy.

Past President:     (Currently filled)
He should be available to be a mentor and guide for the present President as he discharges his duties.  He is a very valuable resource to the entire SLC since he would have, in the past, dealt with every position in one way or another, and can be of great help in times of pressure or uncertainty, when called upon.
