Pender believes that we should
lead by example and bring someone to Christ through our actions each and
every day. We realize that this is our most important outreach and we
shall continue to pray for guidance to help others in need, whatever those
outreach needs may be.
Thanksgiving Baskets and
December Baskets/ Holiday Baskets
The ingredients for Thanksgiving and December baskets are purchased and
delivered by Pender members to Fairfax County families in need. The
families are chosen from Our Daily Bread, a Fairfax County social services
organization that works with local school children.

Homeless Walkathon
The Walk was open to local churches and the community. This annual
November event is a walk that starts on the Mall in D.C. The event is
an excellent opportunity for physical and spiritual exercise and the

Pender Outreach Center and
Grace Ministries
Our Outreach Center has been expanding and an excellent clothing and
furniture ministry thanks to several devoted volunteers who work at the
Outreach Center on the second and fourth Saturday of each month from 10:00
a.m. to 11:30 a.m. We are feeling the need to be a bilingual center and we
are interested in local outreach to our community. We are becoming more
familiar and have been volunteering with an organization, Grace
Ministries, in Arlington, VA. Grace Ministries has a food and clothing
distribution program on the third Saturday of each month and is a
bilingual English/Spanish center. Grace Ministries is interested in
expanding their ability to offer medical care, books, and educational
programs.

Cell Phone Donations
We have an ongoing program for pre-owned cell phones to be donated to
the Fairfax County Police Department. The phones are reprogrammed and
donated to women to use for emergency use.
Eyeglass Donations
The eyeglass donation program is an ongoing program for slightly used
eyeglasses. The eyeglasses are then donated to our local Lions Club.
Operation Teddy Bear
New and gently used stuffed animals and clothes are donated during
September and October each year to “Gleaning for the World.” The items
are donated to orphanages and economically challenged children. |
