If you’re a Pender woman, then you’re a member of The United Methodist Women! We’re made up of four “circles” which meet on a monthly basis, and constituents who may attend any or all of the general membership activities. All you need to do to be a member is to let another member know, and we will help you find a circle or activity to attend. We have a directory that lists all our current members, and we have room to grow. We are organized under the General Board of Global Ministries of the United Methodist Church. Our goals are to work to build a supportive community among women; to be an advocate for the oppressed and dispossessed with special attention to the needs of women and children; and to engage in activities that foster growth in the Christian faith, mission education, and Christian social involvement throughout the organization.

To support these goals, we participate in a variety of activities throughout the year. Our circles and monthly meetings provide opportunities to fellowship and pray for one another; we support various missions throughout the world through our fund-raising activities; we provide spiritual growth through devotions, prayer breakfasts, an annual retreat, and opportunities to participate in district and state retreats. We have sent goodie packages to servicemen and boxes of clothing to children in Iraq; we have provided financial and emotional assistance for people in our community; we have provided meals and supplies for homeless people in our community; we provide refreshments for several Sunday Fellowship Hours throughout the year, and members provide dinners for the United Methodist Men’s monthly meetings. There are plenty of opportunities to participate a lot or a little as your time and interest allow; we welcome new members, and are open to ideas and suggestions.
