How to Join Pender United Methodist Church
|
 |
We are eager for you to be an active member of our
church family. We have regular Sunday morning classes to provide
information about the Methodist faith, and Pender. There are several
ways you can become part of the Pender congregation.
BY PROFESSION OF FAITH
If you have never been baptized, a minister will
meet with you in your home or at the church , at your convenience, to
discuss the meaning of baptism and making a profession of faith as a
Christian.
BY RESTORATION OF MEMBERSHIP & RENEWAL OF VOWS
If you are no longer a member of a church, your
baptism will be honored and you can reaffirm your vow of church
membership and become a member of Pender.
|
BY LETTER OF TRANSFER
If you are a member of another United Methodist
congregation, the church office can write requesting a letter of
transfer to Pender. This holds true for many other denominations. For
those who do not issue letters of transfers, a letter announcement can
be sent to your church notifying them of your acceptance into the
membership of Pender.
AFFILIATE & ASSOCIATE MEMBERSHIP
Affiliate and Associate Memberships convey all
rights, privileges, benefits and responsibilities with the exception
of being able to serve as a member of the Administrative Board (the
policy making body in each congregation of The United Methodist
Church).
Affiliate Membership enables one to leave their Full Membership with
another congregation of The United Methodist Church; an Associate
Membership enables one to leave their Full Membership with a
congregation of some other denomination.
THE ONLY VOW TAKEN BY ALL MEMBERS
"I will be loyal to The United Methodist Church, and
uphold it with my prayers, my presence, my gifts, and my service."
